Historical Background:

St. Thomas the apostle Parish is one of the Parishes of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba. It was established in 1999, the parish is about 86 km north East of Juba city. The parish has many tribes of South Sudan and many priests served in this parish.

The parish inhabited by Bari, Mundari, Nuer, Dinka, Shilluk and other tribes of South Sudan. Bari are the farmers and pastoralists. The people in Mangalla are served by the church and government of Central Equatoria State.

The parish was locked on 19th December 2013 during the crisis (war) in South Sudan many properties of the parish were taken including the car. The parish currently is handicapped and needs support to effective. The parish is currently operating without light.
